LaLa Reams (#98372, Texas) is a dedicated and relationally attuned counselor committed to walking alongside emerging professionals and clients as they move toward growth, healing, and meaningful connection. She holds a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Pre-Counseling focus, both earned from a CACREP-accredited program. She is a National Certified Counselor and also holds a Specialization in Addiction Treatment and Recovery—training that reflects both her clinical focus and her personal commitment to reducing stigma around mental health and substance use.
LaLa proudly identifies as a born-and-raised Texan, a woman with ADHD, and someone who has been “recovering out loud” for the past seven years. Her openness about her own healing journey is central to her mission of fostering authenticity and psychological safety in both therapeutic and supervisory relationships.
Before entering the counseling profession, LaLa spent nearly 20 years immersed in the music and arts scene and working in the service industry. These experiences shaped her deep empathy for individuals who are overworked, underseen, and navigating burnout or systemic disconnection. Her message remains clear: come as you are—you belong here.
LaLa has a special heart for working with first responders and their loved ones, a connection rooted in her life with her husband, a fire captain and paramedic. She understands the emotional toll that helping professions carry and brings that awareness into the supervision and counseling room with sensitivity and care.
Her commitment to underserved communities was shaped early on through involvement in nonprofit work and continues today through her ongoing pro bono work with unhoused young adults at Covenant House of Texas, where she also completed her clinical internship. In this trauma-informed and strengths-based setting, LaLa gained experience in ACT, DBT, SFBT, Motivational Interviewing, and a variety of mindfulness and somatic approaches. She has worked with individuals experiencing trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, personality disorders, and neurodevelopmental challenges.
Grounded in relational-cultural principles, LaLa sees connection as the foundation for growth. She believes supervision is not just a space for clinical development but a space where new counselors are seen, valued, and supported as they are birthed into the profession. She is passionate about helping supervisees recognize and nurture their innate gifts while stepping into their identity as ethical, attuned, and confident professionals.
When she’s not counseling or supervising, LaLa nurtures her adventurous and grounded spirit by hiking, camping, gardening, and exploring the Texas Hill Country with her two rescue pitties, a flock of chickens, and her close-knit circle of family and friends. She believes in the healing power of nature, community, and radical self-acceptance—and she brings those values into every relationship she builds.
